In late 2011, I was approached by Aikido Instructor Linda Holiday, 6th Dan and Chief Instructor of Aikido of Santa Cruz to see if I would be interested in assisting her with the photographs for her upcoming book, "Journey to the Heart of Aikido: The Teachings of Motomichi Anno Sensei". As Aikido is a passion of mine, I accepted and was grateful for the opportunity to complete the editing, archiving, restoration and original photography for this historic project.

 

In the spring of 2012, we traveled to the Kumano region of Japan, where Linda Sensei had arranged to scan an archive of old photographs, many of which had never previously been made public. These photographs were in varied condition (many of which already cracked and faded), but with time and energy, they were brought back to life.
