I decided I wanted to revisit a shell form I've tried in the past, and pulled out a slab from my favorites pile. The rounded outer form would make a great canvas for the internal movement of this Klamath Mountain jade, while the edges would hold the concave side within a structured frame.
The decision on thickness was really important for this piece. I wanted it to look solid and show no translucency while front lit, but with any backlight, for the shape to glow. In the end the pendant has a really nice light feeling to it while still carrying the presence of a larger piece.
